![]() Łańcut castle dates back to XVIIth century, originally conceived as a military fortress. It was transformed into a grand aristocratic residence by Princess Izabela Lubomirska in the late XVIIIth century. She bequeathed the estate to her grandson Alfred Potocki, son of Jan the writer, upon his return from Russia in 1816. Four generations of Potockis modernized and expanded the castle and the surrounding estate. Confiscated in 1944, it is today a museum. |
