In December, we sponsored an evening of cocktails and canapés at the
Looking Glass Theater in Chicago, which showed the first theatrical adaptation of
“The Manuscript Found in Saragossa”, the novel by
Jan Potocki (available from Penguin Classics).
An interesting twist to that story is that the theatre’s artistic director, Phil Smith, had been impressed by a Potocki martini at the Duke’s a year before. To celebrate this reunion Phil mixed the cocktails for the audience before the play, while JR Potocki spoke about his forefather after the performance.
